Job Description

The Director of Analytics will be responsible for building out consistent and best-practice analytics capabilities across the Lifetouch enterprise. This includes supporting key analyses across the organization’s business units in coordination with the Shutterfly customer analytics team. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of working with business and technical teams to develop and communicate impactful analyses. This role will report into the Lifetouch Marketing VP and primarily support Lifetouch consumer marketing efforts, while also supporting strategic analysis for the business.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Collaborates with key stake-holders in the planning and execution of the analytics roadmap.
  • In conjunction with the marketing team, develops a comprehensive analytics strategy for consumer marketing across all offline and online channels.
  • Partners with the marketing team in the optimization of their acquisition and retention channels.
  • Supports the required performance reporting with key dashboards and insights.
  • Provides technical expertise and best practices in measuring business performance and solving business optimization opportunities, using advanced mathematical, statistical and experimental approaches.
  • Works closely with data warehouse engineers to provide data requirements to improve analyses.
  • Provides direction on the instrumentation of the customer journey for the online Lifetouch business.
  • Performs deep-dive statistical analyses on very large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets to answer critical questions, such as key drivers of repeat purchase behavior.
  • Communicates team insights and supports the management team in their key decisions.

Education

  • Quantitative Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • 12 or more years overall technical experience with deep mastery of a wide range of techniques, tools, and methodologies related to business analysis and optimization.
  • 8 or more years of management experience
  • Familiarity with advanced data mining and statistical analysis.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills: ability to translate business priorities and requirements to technical audience, and technical requirements/constraints to a business audience.
  • A work history of simplifying abstract business issues and large amounts of data in actionable analyses.
  • Excellent negotiator, demonstrated ability to negotiate technical and business priorities and constraints toward a pragmatic goal across broad cross section of peers, subordinates, and executive management.
  • Experience in successfully managing and training an analytics team.
  • Expert user of analysis tools such as SAS and R.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience applying complex SQL to solve analytic problems.
  • Self-starter personality with an ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated capacity to learn, intellectual honesty and independent thinker. Must be comfortable with unstructured, fast moving, and constantly evolving environment.
