Lifetouch Inc. has built a reputation of excellence and innovation, and is seeking a full-time Production Supervisor at our production facility in Burnsville, MN.


Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily department operations and its employees, including scheduling, training, monitoring of work, motivation, quality assurance, cost control, and ensuring of safe work practices.  Applicant must have the ability to work on 2nd shift during peak production times which is approximately 3 months of the year.  This position will be responsible for the overall supervision of the back-end (cutting, assembly and shipping) with a staff level of 8-25 employees. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise department operations with continuous improvement leadership.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to employees ensuring the delivery of all Production objectives and goals.
  • Develop and implement solutions to problems involving scheduling of personnel.
  • Ensure department goals are achieved daily, weekly, monthly and seasonally for quality, productivity, delivery, safety and customer service.
  • Recommend, develop and implement cost reduction/profit improvement ideas.
  • Manage Lean activities; such as schedule and participate in running Kaizen events, documenting standard work and 6S (safety).
  • Plan, forecast, coordinate and communicate the work schedule to meet production needs.
  • Set priorities, delegate and distribute necessary workload.
  • Ensure the use and training of safety devices and equipment and correct any hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Plan and oversee the training and development of all new and existing department employees.
  • Update department records, schedules, and reports as needed.
  • Conduct individual or team meetings to share information and answer questions. 
  • Resolve employee conflicts, concerns and complaints in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure proper communication between all employees in department and between shifts.
  • Perform special assignments or projects delegated by Production Manager.
  • Develop professionalism through employee involvement and encourage/develop employees.
  • Evaluate employee performance to determine needs for improvement.
  • Communicate to employees when performance deficiencies occur in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Monitor time and attendance of department employees.
  • Review all requested time off and approve where appropriate.  Handle all other required personnel administration functions.
  • Assist with interviewing and selection of applicants for department positions.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in production management/operations management /engineering or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years leadership experience in seasonal, fast-paced, or process oriented environment.
  • Previous people management experience is required.
  • Ability to use and learn Lean processing tools.
  • Strong logical and analytical thought process.
  • Self-motivated and good organizational skills.
  • Strong decision making abilities skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem solving ability.
  • Ability to quickly adjust and respond to seasonal/changing work demands.
  • Enjoy face-paced, team oriented work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
